Something in my wellso!?!?

So after a few weeks of my wellso not looking happy I pulled it out to dip and investigate and found a spongy spot on the bottom with black dots in it it also has a hole through the top close to the same area. Any ideas?

OK so after some blasts with the pipette this is what it looks like

The hole is the small brown spot on top of the higher part of the bone structure
