This afternoon I was surfing the web and found the site of the www.upstatereef.com and found something we as a corporation can do in the not too far future.
Long story short ; The seneca Park Zoo had a lousy 400+ gallon fish only W/ fake decoration in a poor state of upkeep. The upstate reefers, as a corporation, offered to redo the tank for the zoo at no cost as a full blown reef. After the zoo approved, and two years of work the tank was filled with water in July of last year. As part of the deal the club does all the maintenence of the tank until the zoo staff is qualified to care for it.
The reason I am bringing this subject up is because of this thread http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=322638d
I know that as a club we are not at that level just yet, but I can see identifing a local zoo/aquarium and doing something like that. This can be another way to spread the word.
Boris.
P.S. the upstate reefers are as active as we are at RC.
