My tang has alot of white specs on him and on his eye. Now I think i know why. Someone had added some salt directly to my sump which i think is what is stuck on the tang. Would you agree?

My clown has also gotten more black spots on him as well. I dont think this is due to the salt:

thanks for the help

Theres multiple ways, mine was mild enough on a clown that I just raised the temp. There is copper treatments which I would NOT do in a reef tank...then theres hyposalinity, and others as well. Hopefully others can state their expierence and how they did so, as I don't have much, and from my understanding, its much different than fw ich, which is where I have had much more expierence in.

Ich on the tang....garlic pellets, garlic aglae sheets, keep temp around 76....the parasite reproduces under higher tank temp faster....let nature take it's course. The black spots on the clown are from anemone stings.....they should fade a bit...

I boost the temp to speed up the cycle, bc what you are doing is treating/killing it after it falls off the fish. So the idea is to speed up the ich process, bc you are more so treating the water containing it, then the fish itself.

See the only other tank i Have is a 14 gallon bio cube. I think its way to small for this size fish would you agree?

I am also expirencing alot of red algae on my rocks. I was feeding my tank that phos. brown stuff for the clam which might of of made this spread not sure though?

Siphoning the detritus, etc. off of the bottom of the tank daily is recommended as it will also suck out the ich in it's bottom dwelling stage as well.

My Tang is now getting worse I do not have a hospital tank :-( is there anything i can do? The white spots are really noticeable now I dont know what i should do?

try the Hyposalinity trick in a 5 gallon bucket if you don't have a QT tank.

I had ich on my clownfish about 3 years ago and gave them a quick hyposalinity dip and they ended up being fine.

What actually worked for them with the ich was a dip in RO water for about 5 minutes. Make sure the temp is the same as the tank water. The ich pops when SG is reduced.

For the rest of the tank, not sure what you can do other than water changes.

Sorry but how can you claim to have 2 years in the hobby and think salt stuck to your fish??

Well when someone dumps salt directly to the tank I was wondering if the salt could possible stick to the fish? IDK I have never added salt directly to the tank I always let it dislove???

Sorry for asking a stupid question.

P.S. - and even with 2 years expirence i am still learning new stuff every day!

not to point a finger directly at you, but seriously anyone should know what Ick is even before buying fish for this hobby (fresh or salt). learn how to select and take care of these animals before bringing them home and putting them in a gallon of saltwater and killing them , they do come from our oceans and reefs only to be sold to someone that thinks its cool to have them. thats ignorant, that supply will diminish sometime. Go to the C-Sea Meetings and get educated. learn before you buy.
don't just go there to the swap and play raffles. I would bet that 90% of the ocean life that is won at those meetings is dead within a week. get educated and do the oceans a favor.
and there are no stupid questions if there asked before something stupid is done.
and BTW if there a chance someone can dump salt into your sump without your knowledge I would hide the salt to make sure that wouldnt happen , makes sense dont it..
again not directly slamming you yourself this post was a good example of negligence. if people spoke the TRUTH on here you would find the TONS and TONS of sealife has been killed by lack of knowledge.
Thats why there is a club and a forum, learn about something before you buy it or do it. before you kill it. there a lot of experience on here .
Good Luck
again I am not trying to make you look bad, just a example of the same scenario that happens constantly on here
