29 gallon tank (sand substrate)
10 gallon sump (miracle mud, live rock substrate w/calupera)
40-50 lbs live rock
2 160 gph powerheads (the minijet is turned down to 2nd level)
700 gph return (I have this t'd and ran to 2 different returns)
175 watt MH 14000k with 2 20 watt 03 actinics
pH-8.3
ammonia (my test reads .2, never changes, lfs reads 0)
nitrite-0
nitrate-0
alkalinity-my test doesn't give a number but reads normal
calcium 450-500
dosed once per week with ocean's blend 2 part supplement
10 ml of pH alk.
10 ml of Calcium
I have been running this tank for nearly 2 years. I have various mushrooms, a yellow cup, what the lfs called an anvil (hammer?), a green brain, and some button polyps.
My mushrooms and my brain do very well, the anvil and the cup don't do so well. Each have some dead spots that they didn't have when they moved into the tank. I had a colt die, and my buttons are doing very poorly. I also had a clam die, and a couple anemones. I feed 3 to 4 times a week with dt's plankton and cyclopeeze. Also there is plenty of brine and mysis left over from my fish.
I really can't put my finger on why my tank won't get over the hump and take off. please give any suggestions
