somewhat disappointed

I like to support local business, and I'd buy local and pay my tax if the price isn't too much expensive.

I used to have high hope of a local fish store, and I'd like to shop there more. However, I start to see premium/higher price tag on stuff now even thou they are just normal stuff. some are even higher than their competitors.

I kinda trusted them and bought something.. then I realized that the price is even higher than the MSRP... I mean... I guess it's my fault since I didn't do the homework..

Just a complain.... somewhat disappointed.. going back to online shopping...

cant name names here but yea ya are right not all of our LFS seem to have fair prices....the ones that do see our faces more....the ones that dont never end up seeing the same faces over and over.....oh well eh

Ohh my young padawan. You have much to learn. Just remember in the long run most Internet websites will offer the same product for cheaper. (1) They buy in huge massive quanities to get huge discounts from the manufacturer that LFS cannot do. (2) They don't have local and federal sales tax to contend with.(3) They usual offer free shipping with certain amounts, with LFS every item in the store had to be shipped to that location for a cost. (4) Most wholesale companies have there customers (LFS) on different tier pricing. One store may get a specific product cheaper than another store because of the amount of credit or years in business. That being said what one store pays from on place maybe completely different than the store next store. Just remember at the end of day, no company sets out to be the highest priced.

Whatever... this is BS... we all know that LFSes jack their prices up and laugh maniacally while doing it. Give me a break.

:D :p

I keed, I keed. ;)

I would argue that a few companies do jack their prices up to seem more "exclusive" (designer corals come to mind as well), but that would quickly go off topic... which may be a good thing.

I can understand. I was in the metro area last night and some of the acro's while very very nice, were out of my price range. I would rather get a tiny frag for 1/10th of their price and grow it out than buy a colony with a few branches for $120.

I have see the other side to be just as bad. I find a local store ran by great people with great products and rock bottom prices. They last a while and then are gone because the owner could not buy food or pay rent. I would rather pay a little more and have those guys around. I called a LFS over the weekend looking for a product they sale. They advised me to try a free solution first even though they lost a sale. I have seen this over and over again. Not always with LFS, but I would guess the same holds true for most businesses.
