somthings wrong with my maroon

I fed both my anemone and my marron clown then went out to lunch

When I came back, the clown was biting the bta somthing the fish never does!

I stopped and watched for a few minutes and the fish has a white bottom lip. and one side fin has white on the tip (this looks nothing like ick)

I wasent sure what to do, I have no quarentine set up right now. This is the only fish in my system.

Anyway.. I caught the fish and put it in a bag, and it fussed about a few minutes. whatever was on its lip is gone/knocked off/ I donno...

I tried to give it a little food with antibiotics, but it wont eat. not sure if its because its in the bag.

The anemone has little bite marks all over it and its got shrunken tenicles

I need help. Do you think the anemone stung the fishes lip, or was the fish biting trying to get whatever it was off his lip?

Im going to get garlic tomorrow, any opinions would be greatly valued. thanks

IMO. . .

If she's the only fish in the system you should just keep her in the tank. Fish will get diseases when stressed, & sticking her in a bag will definitely increase stress levels, decreasing chances of recovery. Make sure to check your water parameters, & maybe do some water changes over the next few days. How long have you had your clown? if she's new than she might have had the underlying illness that hadn't appeared until something stressed her.

As far as the rbta, it should be fine. Sometimes our ocellarius clowns bite the tentacles on their anemone with no harm done. the RBTA will probably recover, it just sounds like it's been irritated.

We had these same problems when we started. The first year is tough & it takes that long to really have an established tank.

just my $0.02

:D

boy did you say a mouth full *sigh* the first year is really stinking. and its like every solution causes another problem, its been non stop stress (for me :P) the last three months

the fish isent new, ive had her about a month.

my bta is unhappy because my salinity was changed, now im very very slowly bringing it back up.....

Ive been staring at my fish thinking i should let her out too...

I would say try garlic or the LFS will have this stuff called ENTICE (sp?) that you could try to get it to eat. Study your tank and fish for a while you might see something I would also do it again after the lights go out. Can you take a picture of the white thing on the fish?

wait till tomorrow and then feed again. If it don't take, try using live brine shrimp from your LFS. This always produces a feeding response in clowns. If not, you may be in trouble.

If you are worried about the anemone, give the mama clown a little man clown to beat on instead. Make sure to Fresh water dip the new clown for 16 minutes before dropping him the salt tank (match up the PH and TEMP first before dipping (very important)).

i have her in qt now. she started off with a lil man, she beat him so bad i had to take him to lfs

she wouldent eat garlic food, reg food. still not eating at all. shes swimming in the qt and her body is clean and clear including fins. mouth looks weird.
I have a thread in the diseases forum now trying to get some help on hyposalinity vs copper, if its ick on her mouth.... I treated her with nox ick lastnight witch i thought was copper, but its malicite green. it is for saltwater tho.... im at a loss for words, i just dont know what to do next. the qt is stable, checking for amonia often, not sure if i should continue treatment with nox ixk or not...

oh.. when i let her back out of the bag yesterday, she just laid in her anemone very still, not her usual self... today she really looks more normal. but im going to wait two weeks to 6 weeks depending...

on another sour note.. my anemone is sooo much happier without the clown.... makes it hard... the anemone has been bothered lately, looked like a taco shell covering its mouth and tenicles were shrunk. now shes open wide and her bubbles came back in the tips... !!
