So maybe i missed this on the last thread, But when where whats going on to have an APRIL MEETING ???
Sooooo its APRIL, MEETING.

April meeting thread I thought I posted a couple days ago and it didn't come up.
April, 17th @The Coral Reef. @ 2pm.
I think our secretary/meeting coordinator has all but fallen off the face of the earth.
If any of you have anything you would like to have discussed, let us know and we will try to make it happen. If any of you have a demo you would like to put on or would like to see put on, let us know and we will try to make it happen.
It is really a shame that a crook could hold a raffle and sell over a hundred tickets and us honest people have only sold 26 tickets in a few months. I take it that maybe there are not any members that would like to win a nice 12 gallon all in one system for the cost of a chance for $3.00. Maybe we should refund the $$$ to the people that have purchased tickets and just let The Coral Reef sell the system for retail.
The raffle won't take place until 100 tickets are sold. That will pay for the tank and net S.T.A.R.S. a little bit.
Come on lets all have a get together and have some fun. Any one that wants to bring frags and sell or trade them is, like always more than welcomed to do so.
I hope to see all the regulars as well as lots of new faces at this meeting.

Oh cool, thanks John! However, not gonna be able to make it. Will be packing and holding a yard sale that particular weekend. I believe. I hope we can make since it will be our last official meeting here at STARS.
Also, want to bring up a something that has kind of been concerning to me over the past couple of weeks. When we hold frag swaps during the meeting, it is to help each other have corals that we may have other wise not be able to afford. Some of these are expensive, some are inexpensive. Either way, these frags have no monetary value in them--they are free or whatever the person who is giving/selling their corals too or what the parties agreed upon. Heck I know at the December shin dig that we had at Daniels and Leanors, I gave away a litany of corals to individuals.
This club and its members are very generous and giving. From going to Pedro's, Jay's, Erik, Steffen, John, Arnie, Kevin, Justin, Ben, myself and so many others who have held sales here on the forum and privately have been very generous and giving of their corals/equipment. We know how expensive this hobby is and willing to help anyone.
Nevertheless, there are certain individuals whom have taken advantage of this generosity and are selling corals that were GIVEN FOR FREE!! I won't name the offenders but it goes to show how gratitude can be taken advantage for a weakness. It is unethical and quite honestly it P!SSES ME OFF :furious:as to how callous and calculating certain people can be.
I can't stop them because it is in their nature to be so. However, I can put it out in the forum to inform our great members as to what has been going on to inform them. I felt it was in my obligation to do so.

well i agree with Hans, but there is no written rule. just a common sense thing you would think. I remember my first meeting and i was soo excited about recieving a small frag of green slimer from Kevin. my first piece. and i have recieved many pieces since then. but it was just common sense to not sell anything that i got for free. not only that i take stuff and grow them out and give them back out. thats the way it should be and thats what the club should be about. one hairy mushroom from steffen free when i got some stuff from him went to probably 4-5 different tanks now. everyone that got stuff i was selling also got a colored up encrusted fixed green slimer frag from me for free. xenia from jay is in several tanks from all of us. so maybe we should make that a rule. or maybe the frag tank will fix alot of this. but it should be that you are not allowed to sell anything you recieved for free. you must grow it and pass it along preferably to a member.

I agree P. And I think it should be spoken of at the meeting. Hopefully the frag tank will alleviate a lot of this. With my sale, I gave away a bunch of corals i personally paid for. There were a couple of SPS pieces a paid for that went for free. Even the corals that were given to me for free, went to homes for free. You can't stop dishonesty or a dishonest person. Nevertheless, we can alert the members in our club as to what is going on.

As for me I thank all who gave me a piece of their tank it made a big diffrence to me I will not forget those who did and in the future I will return one to them . Have a piece of mind I wont resell nothing I didn't pay for.

Hans, I would have to agree with you on the frag subject. If a member is given a coral then they should hold on to it. It should not be sold but it does belong to that person to do with as they wish. I agree it is not very ethical. If the person does not want the coral for their tank in the first place then they should not take and keep some one else from having it that would appreciate it. Before you sell what was given to you free at least ask the person that gave it to you if they want it back. Oh but then what would be the profit in that?
I don't suggest calling the person/persons out on the forum but you could PM all other members and tell them who these people are, that way we would all know who not to give coral to.
Hmmm lets see I have some pretty nice corals in my tank right now that were given to me. Do I hear $40.00 whola gime 45, 45 , 45 I got a 40 make it 45, 45, 45 sold for 40

) when we first started meeting for the other club. It became more of a frag swap then a meeting. Also, I feel bad taking frags to a meeting held at a LFS but know most don't mind or if they do they just grin and bear it. I believe we just limited frag swaps to two meetings a year held at someone's home, if I'm remembering it correctly, to try and not make it the focal point of a meeting. I personally don't know of anyone selling something given to them but I keep my head down in the equipment room most of the time! 
Having said that I have a bunch of xenia ready for the next meeting! Don't be bashful now. :lol: Really, I compare the xenia to caulerpa so if anyone sold any of that my hat is off to ya!!!

I dropped off some zoa/paly frags at Charlie's. Free if you mention the club. Told him five dollars otherwise if he likes (he gave me the plugs). I cut them off of the egg crate frag shelf and put them on disks when I moved
2 disks of purple deaths. These kinda suck. They are always growing algae around them.
2 disks of nuclear greens.
1 disk of armor of gods.
1 disk of the tall red/purple ones that were from Pedro's tank.
2 disks of fire/ice and incredible hulks. I didn't separate the heads... they grow all over the crate.
Anyone wants a frag of the above come on over and we can cut more off. or grab them at Charlie's store. I could also cut some heads off of the frogspawn. Working weekends I rarely get to meetings. This is a standing offer for a frag and a beer. Now I'm located on the west side!

I am barely getting my new tank to where my corals are spreading and looking happy. At the december meeting i did partake in the coral swap and am happy to say the mushrooms and zoas that i got are growing beautifully and I think will be ready to frag in the next few months. The only thing I have that is reproducing happily is kenya trees and these neon yellow (look like polyps). I have a new computer so hopefully will have some pictures soon.
