sopranos

The "I'm looking for Sopranos thread" comes up about once a month of the various boards. Must be more than ole wives' tales and every original owner (or atleast active on the boards) had theirs melt.

LOL yeah to be clear i'm not looking! I just don't believe they exist noone around me has them, just wondering if anyone had one, i have just heard they're like the holy grail of zoas so i was just wondering a ball park figure. I was upset paying 30 a polyp for my purple hornets lol

I do know of two commercial vendors who have them in grow out. They have told me that they are slow growers and basically grow two polyps, melt one, grow two, melt one... So it will be a while before we see them for sale.

LOL wow thats pretty ugly, well i'll wait 5 years when they're hopefully $30 a polyp, maybe they won't act like they're on a stove then either haha

uive heard alot of talk of these.....and alot of people wanting these....put what do they look like....i googled it and got the tv show.....hmmmm....if thats what they look like..then ill PASS!!!! LOL

Came up in a thread over on nano-reef as well, at least one member over there claimed to know someone who actually has these in their system - supposedly kept under the edge of the rock work in the shade and in a very low flow area. Someone who works for a wholesaler and receives coral shipments also stated that they come into the market about once a year or so, and that they should be coming in here sometime soon. Beyond that, on all the boards I visit, I've never seen anyone vender or otherwise who is willing to post that they have them - for growout or otherwise. If someone still has these in captivity, they are not talking about it, they certainly aren't selling them, and I have seen any recent pictures in quite some time.

I did see someone post up a picture of what a vender was calling a soprano, but it wasn't.

I spent a good amount of time looking for them and spoke with all three of the people on the forums (including one individual in Aussie) who at one point or another had them. It's not a wives tale, they do melt and even though nothing is impossible, I would be VERY surprised to know that anyone in the hobby has them. If they do, I'm guessing that some people out there would pay upwards of $3-400/polyp for them.
