Sorry about this - id please

Hi guys - I've got these strange little things on my sand today. No sign of them yesterday. They are about one quarter the size of a pencil eraser. I have this picture in my head of some strange sand-eating creature coming out in the night and pooh-ing these little nuggets then going back into hiding.

My guesses... pellets of food that have soaked up some water or waste pellets from one of the inverts in your tank.

Well... I don't feed pellet food (should I??), and I only have snails (and one shrimp) - the conch maybe? That seems like a logical choice, since she seems big enough and eats sand, but why so much at once? Does she save up for two weeks? Sounds uncomfortable.
