Woke up at 2 am to this last night...

That's the second accident this week and third in the past month within eye/earshot of my home. If you know anyone that drives on Empire Blvd please ask that they drive careful as it seems to be getting worse lately (especially near Plank Rd intersection). Puts a dreaded knot in my stomach every time...

I hate that intersection, I'm always hesitant there when a light turns green there is always a car trying to "make the yellow."

Actually all the traffic on Empire/Ridge from Plank all the way to Holt Road has just been getting worse and worse. It wouldn't surprise me if they widen to 4 lanes all the way.

Yeah and the Plank intersection is only going to get more congested once the sidestreet Daytona is blocked off from Empire...

With the exception of a couple regular civilians... it's pretty well guaranteed that when I hear a car turn onto Plank and hammer down on the gas it's a police car every time. I had been starting to get really irritated about that as they do it even when I'm outside in the front yard with my dog (on leash but still). It never seems they're responding to a call either as they'll get to the red light at Creek and Plank and just sit there until it turns green.

However, I must give all these guys, ambulances and fire department MAJOR credit as every time so far they've been on the scene in under 5 minutes. That is fast compared to some accidents I've been in... I can't imagine some of the things these protectors of ours dream about at night and know for sure it is a job I could not handle. I couldn't even be a nurse as my mom hoped. Something about sticking people with needles really creeps me out...
