Jumping Back In With a Heavy Heart

I'll start up a a less depressing thread detailing the tank from the start and post some pics of the live rock. A fresh start rather than a sad ending if you will :) Deciding where to get the live rock from and what type to get was probably the hardest part.

I went with Salty Critter Uaniva live rock. I was set on Walt Smith Fiji rock but in the end I decided to get something that hopefully has some nicer shapes and is fresher. I ended up with Salty Critter because he could get it to me quickly and was happy to help me out with pieces and sizes I wanted. Overall I just got a good vibe speaking with the owner.

Sadly I'm totally broke because I've now managed to spend way more on pumps and rock than I had originally intended :( But when it came down to it, skimping and getting the cheapest live rock I could find was silly.

I think you should use this thread. Its sad truly. But its wonderful that you survived a devastating series of events.

If I were in your shoes I'd put some old pics of your and your mom's tanks around the new one. That way everyone will ask and you can say... I love her and I miss her and this is for everything she taught me and helped me learn.

Your story makes me want to be a lot nicer to my own mother. Good luck with the reef tank and keep us updated.

That's a really nice idea

Got my rock today and it's VERY nice. Makes me feel better that I scored with the rock, and it'll be a good foundation for a nice tank. Full review to come along with some pics that hopefully turned out decent.

I read the whole thing. Very sad indeed.I'm glad you are getting back into something that you truly love. I think your new tank wil be awsome!I'm sure your mother is watching over you and will guide you in this new adventure.
