Hey all. So John, (Copps) this thread is calling you out. I know you are very busy with the new baby, and hopefully the little one is doing great and you and your wife are getting some sleep.

So anyway. Whenever I think about having dream tanks or winning the lottery, I always think about John's amazing collection. Thankfully there aren't many people who deserve or have the great knowledge to keep these fish super healthy like Copps. So I was hoping to get some updated pics of the displays and holding tanks you have in your home with information on the fish, (ID, origin, source if you would ever share!!!, etc). Hopefully we get some great eye candy and more knowledge from Copps. Thanks, T

+7 Always like to see the eye candy copps keeps in his tanks! I always seem to learn something new when I read his threads...

+10 Even I figured out to search for threads from him and look forward to pics and I haven't posted much here

i believe John is off to Boston to give a talk to the BRS (boston reefers society) this weekend. I as well want to see his collection :) I will bug him until he posts!

:D I too realize this is long overdue... but again as you mention I am way backed up with projects like this and the system critical priority one tasks come first (like water changes and acquiring new specimens). Having a newborn girl (well... now three months old), along with a three year old boy who is old enough to do damage around the house but not old enough to realize it's wrong hinders these projects! :D With that said, as Zemuron mentioned I travel to Boston for the weekend to speak for the Boston Reefers... but next weekend (Thanksgiving weekend) I will get to this! My systems are healthy and looking good...

Share your wonders of the world with us mere peasants Copps :D

The truth is my wife and I are a young couple with two children living in the Silicon Valley of the East where the cost of living is high... outside of this hobby and Thomas the Train accessories I don't spend much... the enjoyment I get from the specimens I buy is well worth the money I pay... I always tell people to buy fish that EXCITE you... not those that excite other people... I've been doing that since I was a kid and do to this day... if you need to ask "is it rare?" chances are you shouldn't be buying it... many of the fish I have are not even that expensive or considered that rare... but they excite me... recent acquisitions include a gorgeous pair of Genicanthus semifasciatus... very overlooked and obtainable seemingly... but try finding a nice healthy pair... or a pair period... it's tough! They mainly come from the Phillipines and in dribs and drabs... another relatively new fish I have is one of the many "hybrid morphs" of C. flavissima/vrolikii... he is just about all flavissima but the fin rays in his tail are blue... pretty cool to me... but not to everybody. People always have this false expectation that price is proportional to beauty when it isn't... you could fill up a system with a gorgeous rainbow of fish that each cost under $40... again the excitement these fish give me is well worth the money in my book and bring back the feeling I had when my Mom would drop me off as a kid at the aquarium shop while she did her shopping... :D
A bit of a ramble... but again I'll have updated pics and info on my systems by Thanksgiving weekend Sunday (Nov. 30th)... if not... then CALL ME OUT! If you do however, you must be willing to babysit while I scrape coralline! :)

Until then... here are a few shots of some systems from like five years ago before my wife and I had our house... most of you guys know me as a fish guy... but I'm an everything guy in this hobby and keep mainly reef tanks where all of the fish you see go... :)

My old 10 gallon kitchen nano...

the refugium was up in the cabinet and the display was essentially the sump...

I successfully kept tridacnids and sps in this system and they grew and thrived... this system was featured on nanoreef back in the day...
