Soulpatch's 150 SC build

ugh bad salifert kit. I was testing at around 8.5 alk when I want 9. Took some water to my LFS guy tonight and it tested in at 7.3. WHOA.

So we opened another salifert test kit and tried again. Same answer. Tried a third and same thing. So I bought the third kit to bring home.

Thankfully I kept my 2 part mixes from when I sold the doser. I mixed up some soda ash and am dosing that manually right now. My calcium is high so hopefully dosing alk brings that back in line.

Always something but at least I have a finger on what is still botherin a few corals. Oddly my SPS is doing GREAT right now and it is my acans who are ****ed.
 
I guess Salifert doesn't include standard cailbration solutions on their alk tests any more. What did you test the Salifert against at the LFS? I'd be more inclined to trust 3 consistent salifert test kits than the other one that he's using, if you only tested that one once.

Also, 7.3dkh isn't that bad. As long as you're >7, it's well within operating (and growth) parameters. The more important thing is not fluctuating across the board (but you know that).

Any other thoughts on what might be bothering the acans other than the WC issues? Wonder if it's just all the fluctuations going on.
 
All tests were salifert. Just appears mine was bad.

And yes i believe ive had issues with acans is due to bad salt and water stability

Well my water parameters are falling back in line. I need to keep an eye on everything for the next few weeks. On the plus side my acans are all puffing back up and my one is seemingly coloring back up.

On my other corals I have gotten a few new torch heads, few new heads on hammers, 3 more duncan heads, and my SPS is all growing. It is weird to me that the acans of all things were so bothered by the alk but it is what it is.

I might be gettign the calcium reactor up sooner rather then later at this point to stabilize everything.

Forgive the bit of junk on the sand. I had not cleaned that yet and it came because i have turned off the awc. I cleaned it on tuesday and not back yet.

The room will be eaten up soon. I have a few frags coming from a member on here tomorrow, there is a live sale with Cherry Corals on Saturday, I have my LFS bringing me in for his wholesale WYSIWYG acan sales so I can pick what I want, and there is the reptile/reef show in November with the NJ Frag swap up the street.

I expect to be full by year end. I need some fish though still to feel full there.

I need to reorg my stand too and get my reactors in the stand so I can really use them both again. I have one haphazardly in there right now.

I accepted an offer on my Kessils last night so as soon as money hits my account I will be ordering in the Reef Brite XHO strip. I also have to swap out my bulbs this weekend
 
I also need to move my biocube so I can get the scraper to the left glass plane. It has been bpthering me but I havent had the arm strength to move that tank yet. I think I am back to that point with the shoulder though so might try that this weekend...
 
thankfully things have bounced back. Those Milles in the top middle are AWESOME looking but the phone cant capture their colors. I will break out the DSLR this weekend as I want pics of the frags coming in tomorrow as well. I should be swapping out the lighting tomorrow morning with the new bulbs to bring out some more florescence as well.
 
Actually I might be at the nj frag swap if yoy are going.

All depends on how much i spend tomorrow for the cherry live sale

And I have no qualms stating how much I spend as evidenced in this thread. HA HA. Thankfully my wife doesn't read this or everything would be stated as $10....

Nah, wasn't asking about the money, just pics of what you ended up buying. I'm excited to see what you end up with. Hopefully you didn't have plans tonight. Trick or treating is tomorrow night I hope!
 
Trick or treating is MOnday night. I cleared plans for tonight and going to a buds house to watch the show. We both have tanks and normally go in together for larger buys so we shall see how this goes tonight. Hopefully we can be quick enough.
 
Yea splitting it with people is the best way, since the $40 shipping is a killer. But if you can spread it across 10+ corals, that ain't bad at all, particularly since you can pick up a few pieces for $6-20 that are really nice.
 
So wasnt expecting this till monday but my reef brite xho came in todat and forst impressions are WOW. Adds quite the pop to my t5s.
