Soulpatch's 150 SC build

In a way glad I didn't get the homewrecker. The orange passion doesn't look like it will make it. Seems to be stn at the moment...

Orange passion did indeed die off. I have pinged bio reef who sold it to me and am awaiting them to invoice me for shipping for replacement piece. I might need to call them as they messaged me back on Monday but not heard from them since. Might just have to write it off who knows.

My other pieces are doing prety good and I remembered that the WWC piece I got was a Suicide Squad acro. I am horrible with names so in a way glad I have this thread to remember.

So not like I am shy to spend money BUT while at the show Coralvue announced their upcoming alk monitor. I was iffy on getting theirs or awaiting Pac Sun or Neptunes eventually till the rep said 2 things:

$600
Apex compatible (with AIM module)

I was sold. So now I await its release so I can keep track of my tank and be able to better dial in my calrx (which is working awesome) as my consumption constantly changes from growth and new additions.

So now I will need to sell off my race fairings most likely (not going to race again anyway) and perhaps finally start fragging some corals. I have a milli who needs trimmed back as well as a stylo and a few other items.

Once the tank is fully dialed in I will likely make the plunge on a few collector SPS and see how I handle them. I also need a few more fish which I will look for at end of summer when I am home more and not at beach constantly. Fish to come are:

starry blenny
naso or powder blue tang
foxface

Always plenty of fancy corals to get. Waiting is the best thing you can do, since eventually the prices come down as availability increases.

I've been watching the Alk Monitor progress... I'm super excited too ever since seeing the first tech demo of them. On my big tank I'll get one fo sho. not for now though.

I wish CoralVue would have announced their USA release of their CoralCare lighting... arghhhh.

Last one, with the fishes, the first and third are great ideas, but the Naso won't fit and could/would get aggressive, and the powder blue are good, but they're just super susceptible to disease. Since you've been good about QT with the new tank, it probably won't be an issue, but it's just something to keep in mind. They're often called ich magnets.

You certainly are moving along very well and you definitely are doing it smartly by planning in advance. Sorry to hear about the coral, hopefully they will make it right.

They finally got back to me so hopefully I get invoice today. Won't be able to get it till after next week as I'm at the beach this week...

So apparently a very LARGE F YOU needs to go out to Photobucket who without warning stopped third party hosting unless you pay their ransom of roughly $400 a year to upgrade your account. I will not be doing that.

I will likely look into other services to move my photos to though likely will attempt to go with google photos since I backup there anyway...Any input is appreciated from those of you with more technical know how then I have.

I had heard something about that recently on a few other threads. Super d!ck of them, but everyone has to make a dollar I suppose (maybe they're trying to buff up for an IPO! lol).

I use google photos, because if you use their default settings for uploads, it's not full resolution, but it's certainly plenty, and it's unlimited for free. Their photos.google.com interface is also pretty slick, and if you shoot the photos on your phone, it's a no-brainer.

The sharing/pasting of photos is a little complicated (click photo in your album, hit share, hit "with link", click link, click image, right click image, copy image location, paste that into either IMG brackets or with RC/forum insert image button) but for a personal organization system, it's fantastic.

Also, if you share pics of your daughter and/or family events, it does a great job of organizing them automatically, making collages, knowing who you'd want to share with, etc. Sometimes it's kind of creepy, but whatever, if your stuff is posted online, google's already scanning it anyway.

Yeah I already use google photos as it backs up from my phone and such. Its just that photobucket made it so easy to embed to forums and now I need to learn a new process.

And Flickr getting bought up by Verizon in the Yahoo deal means they are only a matter of time before they too are behind a large pay wall.

Imgur is ok but a pain to use in many instances for me anyway. Great for one offs but I have issues with albums on them.

I will likely have to sit down one weekend and patch my photos in this thread. Painful but it will need to be done. It stinks though as I have a TON of how to threads on motorcycle forums and such that I dont have the desire to go back and patch so they are all lost. Countless threads on here are dead as well. Sad day for internet forums and blogs...

It's pure BS! Who in their right mind would pay 400$ a year just to be able to host photos?

Countless of forums are now a picture wasteland.

I switched to imgur, and it is a PITA to use. Need to find something else, might try that google thing since 100% of my photos are from my phone.

Trying google photos.

google is a pain to link from I am finding. I dont know what I will settle on but I will be switching soon.

If they had said hey pay us 50 bucks a year to allow hosting i would have done it. They have over 100 million users with over 75% of them as free (like I am). Lets say 10% of those users paid 50 bucks...That is 375 million. Make me pay 5 bucks a month and I likely would as well which is now 450 million a year by those assumptions above.

Hell charge everyone a dollar a month for third party hosting (continue charges for paid accounts as well but tack this on as an extra or get $1 from us free folks) and even if only 1/2 the people stayed on they would generate 50 mil a month or 600 million a year....

I dont know who thought this would be a good idea but I imagine they will be trying to answer that in upcoming job interviews shortly as PB is tanking...

For google photo (this is how I do it, anyway):

photos.google.com to load up your photos/albums
Click on the image you want to share
When it is fullscreen, in the top right is the share icon (leftmost icon)
click "Get Link" (bottom icons, top row, right side)
Click link and open in another tab
Click image in new tab to make it fullscreen (though this is likely optional)
Right click on image and select "Copy Image Address"
Insert that image address into the RC [ IMG ] system or use their picture insertion link that does it for you.
You can resize the image through modifying the end of the link where it says "w1246-h934-no" the wXXX is the width in pixels, and the hXXX is the height in pixels. You can change it to whatever you want, just keep the aspect ratio the same (use windows/mac calculator if you want to know what multiple to adjust it by; the image below is downscaled to 667x500. In my tank thread I mentioned the normal scale I adjust it by, I think it's somewhere around 900x700 or something? If you right click the pictures in my thread and look at the URL you'll see the sizes there.).

I know it's a pain, but it's easier for me because my life revolves around google at this point. Between google and the economist, I'm set :D

And then, boom, you have the Staten Island Ferry

Yeah it seems to only work from a desktop browser or using Chrome on your phone because that's the way I got it to work too. Sucks that the link created through the Photos mobile app does not work and neither does going through the Drive mobile app.

i will have to play with pics this weekend I guess.

Back to the tank I bought a powder blue and foxface last night from a local guy. Already through 5 weeks of QT so I save some hassle. Might still do TTM myself just as added precaution but not sure yet. I will likely pick them up this weekend.

Foxface will demolish all forms of algae including your Ulva. I got a tiny Bicolor for my nano and he keeps my Ulva in control. No more hand picking at water changes!
