Soulpatch's build thread (ongoing)

Well I got back Sunday night and went directly to the tank to see almost all of my algae gone. AWESOME!!!

I have picked back up the dosing and will put some more peroxide in this week just to ensure there is nothing coming back. I am thinking stopping the wife from feeding the tank and dropping to one feeding a day also spurred my fat blenny and cuc to get to work on what was in there. Or it could be that I increased my CUC recently. Who knows. Either way it is pretty clean.

I have a water and media change tonight that needs to happen and some testing to see what my levels are flipping to throughout the week. So just need ot test before and after the water change to know weekly usage and whether my growing SPS is consuming enough to begin dosing.

This week fairly certain I will be picking up a couple pieces. I really love the looks of the bonsai with its purple stalks and the neon green polyps so that will probably come home with me.

I also have a rock that is mid light/ high flow that needs some loving. I am as of yet unsure what I can put back there due to PH placement and the rock location but I will figure it out when I hit up my LFS.

Expect some pics and probably some more video this week as I clean up some things.

If anyone would like video of anything even how I have chambers set up or such please let me know today and I will work that into the plans.

Glad to hear the algae is almost gone, that's a big step!

GARF Purple Bonsai is one of my favorite corals, and one of the first I picked up for this tank. I lost most of the purple color under my old lights, but now with the new lights they're finally coming back. I think with your puck, you should be set.

Looking forward to your new additions! I put in a request for the LFS to get me two female McCosker wrasses for my male so he does his flashing behavior more, and to have more active planktivores. Should be fun.

Yeah I am all fished out in my tank so now it is either inverts or corals. I need to get to the stage where I can start fragging my corals for trade in or for swaps. I have a yellow mushroom that can probably be cut down some but they are not worth much to go about it right now.

There is a potential position shift for me again this year to another company and if that happens it will speed up the moving process dramatically I think which would aid in new tank.

As is I am just trying to fill out my current tank. I do need to decide on a medium light, high flow coral though to fill out one rock. So who knows what will end up there.

So here is a little teaser of what I got this past weekend. I got some others as well but will wait to post them till Tuesday when I pick up the other items I put on hold...

Is this acan not AWESOME!!!

Amazing acan! Ive been looking into these recently and found two that i really want but ill have to sell an organ so im able to get it LOL!

that acan cost me $45 and has about 6 heads... 2 large ones on top and 4 smaller ones already coming in on the sides.

Also picked up some GSP that I said I wasn't going to get last night. I needed something for high flow and med light so this fit the bill. Probably pick up some gorgonians this weekend to fill out the rear of the tank...

Pretty Not sure which type they are but would probably go for close to 40-50 a head here in some of the swaps for the rarer acans.

Though if my guy got them probably 30 for the top and 60-80 for the bottom

Definitely going to have to check that place out now. The pics on facebook always look good.

I need to move closer to your LFS! The top one is 100 while the bottom is 180! And thats not including shipping

Ha yeah move on over but dont buy crap I want... lol

My guys buys colonies typically and frags them for serious savings. If he does get frags in he orders en mass to keep costs down. In most instances a lot of us will request a similar item and he will order them in.

Perfect example is utter chaos zoas. They go for high dollar but he is selling them cheap (well cheap compared to online prices) since he grows them out himself.

OK well I decided to get the wife to take some pics tonight. We need to figure out how to shoot the tank better and to use lightroom. I need to read some of D2MINI's blog posting about how he shots since we have the same camera. Just a learning curve I guess.

Also want to get a look down box but not sure how that will work when I lift the hood with the lights...

Anyho here are some pics:

This weekend I will put together a video after I clean up the tank and can shoot some pics with the tank in daytime mode other then the sunset it was now.

WOW!! Very impressive soul. Tank looks awesome.

Quick question though, on either side of the tank, are they both torch's?
