Soundproofing/dampening a stand

Osteomata

Has anyone attempted to sound insulate the inside of their tanks stand? I am attempting to cut the noise (bubbling/gurglin) from the drain line into the sump. I have run across a couple of products available online that are essentially, high density rubber matting glued to poly fiver carpet. Not very thick, looks easy to glue in place.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

Ive been looking into the same thing, maybe like a generic dynomat. I would think as long as it doesnt hold in moisture, it should work

how about the new hardybacker sheet rock sold at home depot with a few coats of good paint?

Keep in mind that a completely sealed and insulated stand is going to hold in a lot of heat and moisture from the sump, pumps, and other equipment.

I had a similar problem when I first set my tank up, Osteomata. I tried various changes to the plumbing and eventually found something that was quiet without needing sound insulation. Basically, one drain pipe that's fully submerged in the overflow, carrying 100% water. I restrict that line just enough that a taller durso in the overflow establishes the water level and carries a small amount of water. The result is a virtually silent, yet safe drain solution - in the event of a clog on the primary drain, the durso can handle 100% of the flow.

I had a similar experience with my set up, I resolved it by using a Y pipe at the end of each drainpipe, the longer side of the Y is sumerged, the one side left is above water realising the air, everything is cover with a nylon sock resulting in a very quiet sump.

Roger,
Yeah I have done something similar. I have jiggered with my plumbing extensively, and have succeeded in quiting things down a lot, but still not enough to satisfy. So far I have:
- Installed a Durso standpipe with finely tuned air hole
- Raised the Durso it to minimize waterfall noise from the overflow wall
- Inserted airline tubing deep into the stand/drain pipe to aspirate the water flow (wetwebmedia.com idea)
- Installed a Y at the end of the drain pipe

Its MUCH quieter than when I started, but still need some silencing, thus the sound dampending idea. Think I may get some soundblock material this weekend. Wonder if Home Depot has something usable?

i went to home depot and bought ac pipe insulation and wrap my return pipe. it's a black foam type wrap for the ac pipe that runs from you compressor outside to the fan unit in the house. i hear no noise from my pipes.
