SouthDown Natural Play Sand

No problem. The sand I am getting is not southdown sand it is 100% marine aqaurium grade aragonite. Much better quality then southdown.

I have Home Depot getting the sand!!! I it will be here in 2 weeks and it will be 4.99 a bag for a 50lb bag. HD will now be stocking it locally here in Melbourne. If you are interested PM me with the amout you would like.

Holy Cow!!! That is a great price! I would like to get a few bags, although, I do plan to go BB on my next tank, it would still be nice to have a few bags.

Excellent price, I must say!

Yes very excellent price! I have searched far and near, because I don't have the money to do real "aquarium sand". And I don't want to make money off this thing either, like some people like to do.

I am getting a pallet of sand, which is 57 bags. Each bag is 50# and they cost $4.99.

Maybe when it comes in we can all get together and have some chow and have meet and greet kinda thing.

I'm sure you're talking about me. I'm not trying to make money, just trying to get re-compensted for the time and money it took to get the sand. And I promise that the sand I got is "aquarium grade," if there is such a thing. All the sand comes from the same place.

What's the address of the Home Depot that will be stocking the sand? Is it 2829 W Newhaven West Melbourne, FL 32904? When you get your sand, can you post a pic of the bag so I don't drive out there for nothing. Congrats for finally getting a Home Depot to do something for us!

Yes that is the correct HD, It is on state road 192. I can certainly post a pic of the sand when it comes in.

Do I detect a hint of tension on this thread? Look guys, whatever the case, the sand is coming to the Melbourne Home Depot. Everyone should have a beer over this. I for one want the best grade sand at the best price. $5 is a great price per bag. However, I can understand Yoda's point and would want to recoup any losses whether it be time or money. So let's spread the word about the sand being stocked and pray that this becomes the norm in our area as I believe it once was. Besides, it beats $20 for a 20 lb. of "oolitic sand from the LFS (rip-off artists). Not all but some. All I ask is that the details be put out when the sand arrives. Peace.

Chris

Most LFS aren't rip off artists with sand - it's expensive for them to buy it and there is a standard markup to make a profit like anything else.

My next system will not have a deep sand bed so the cost sand will not be an issue.

Well the sand from HD should be in this coming week, when it arrives I am going to try to arrange a date for everyone to meet and pick it all up. Let me know.

Good Afternoon! I was just informed by HD that the sand is in. It cannot be sold untill I have gone down there and authorized the sale of it, i guess since I ordered it. But the sand will be $4.99 +tax for a 50lb bag.

So if you would like sand please PM me how many bags you would like so I can make a list of who will get what. I know alot of you posted how many bags you want. But I am making a hard copy list.

If we run out of sand I will order another pallet. By ordering another pallet it will take 2 weeks to get it. The current pallet has 56 bags on it.

I will going down to HD on friday after 12-noon. To open the pallet. After that I will post when the sand is ready for pick up.

I will post periodically how much sand is still avail. as I get in requests.

BTW There is a optional finders fee; all frags are welcome. :D :D

Nice job!

I know it took a lot of work but now that someone's done it I hope that it we might be able to get a pallet down this way whenever enough people want some.

I'm amazed, congratulations. This is the first time I've ever heard of HD actually coming through with a shipment. Very nice job.

Yes, Very amazing. I called around to every sand dealer in the state to no avail. Then I spoke to 5 different people at HD and finally found Carla. She was the miracle worker. Thank You Carla!
