Southdown

I went to Home Depot tonight, and they have a sand made by Kolorscape..Has anyone used this or heard of it....It does say not to use in aquariums.

there is a whole HUGE thread on kolorscape, its supposed to be the same as southdown, people have claimed to to the vinegar test on it, and its the "new southdown"

I went to Home Depot at Woodbridge, NJ and bought a playsand there. the bag said Bonsal company. it is not a good sand for salt water. I test it with vinegar and no fizz result.

mquag7, if you get the Kolorscape that actually good for salt water, please buy 5 bags extra for me. I pay you for it.

thank you
Olivier

it is close to me. I will go there tomorrow . thank you for let everyone know.

The kolorscape successfully passed the vinegar test...fizzed like crazy. I took a small water bottle with some vinegar in it to the Somerville HD and poured some of the sand in right there...it definitely fizzed. Somewhere I read it is "Newcatle Sand." It's actually "Oldcastle Sand" on the tag put the name is Kolorscape. Finally!!!

whoa.. it is goog in somerville HD ? which HD is that ? i am in bridgewater. can you tell me which one you go to ?

I just get back from HD at somerville on 202 S. same shopping area with Wegman and there is non of Kolorscape sand . I did bring vinegar with me to test.
I also check witch HD in Bridgewater near COSTCO and there is none sand

MQuag7,
can you help me ? what is the label on the bag ? I need like 3 bags of 50lbs/bag. let me know. I might go to HD in parsippany tomorrow myself to buy that sand if you are far from me. I am in Somerville, NJ

i just get back from my local AGWAY store. they have sand for baseball yard. outside the bag label Old Castle and by what I read, it says, Limestone. is this good for saltwater ? I also see Yardright sand too and it is also limestone.
can anyone suggest on these two ?

sand.......oh boy.

1st they called it yardright
then southdown, then old castle, then new castle, now kolorscape.

whats the deal with the renaming of this stuff.

Deadcpu- HD next to Wegman's is where I got it, but both HD's in Bridgewater had it. It is in the garden department, not in the store. At the one near Wegman's its in the pick second row from right about half way down on the left. They had it stacked from floor too ceiling. Good luck...

ah crap ... i am an idiot. i went into the concrete area where they have those concrete mix.

let me go to HD now

alrite ... i just got back from HD. I saw two type of sand. One is Kolorscape and one is Limestone. The Kolorscape bag is in blue color and see thru plastic. the Limestone bag is a paper bag but it does have an OLD CASTLE printed on the bag.

my confusing at this point is: the KOLORSCAPE bag has label said do not use for aquarium.
Am I see thing correct ? is this the correct type of sand I should get ?

thank you for all of your help ...
