Southern Guy's 270 Advance Acrylic Build

Your tank & aquascape looks really good BUT the plywood bending holding your lights scare me :eek1: Why not make a frame out of aluminum channel to hold the lights? I think it would look cleaner too and wouldn't cost much. Also instead of the bulky white chain I would look into stainless steel cable you can buy at most hardware stores. They sell it by the foot pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. Yea she is a keeper. Keep in mind I also had to wait 10 months for the tank to be built by another shady contractor/ company. That means the holding tank for all the coral was in the kitchen for that long. This has literally taken me 2 years to get to this point.

Appreciate the advice on the canopy. Keep in mind this was 100% a mock up and a temporary solution until the skin and canopy was done. Never intended to be permanent. Trust me, I unfortunately have cleaner taste than that.

Well fast forward 7 months and its still hanging. Sagging way worse too. That's why I'm happy I finally found someone else to do my skin and canopy. Shouldn't be long now.

Hey buddy I understand. My rock was in tubs in my BATHTUB! Thankfully I live by myself but even the clutter around the house is enough to upset some females...... :)
I just ordered an acrylic tank, I'm excited, how is yours holding up?

Figured you had ditched the temporary canopy. Just take some 2X4s and screw onto the topside of the tank horizontally. That keep it from bowing and frying your tank, lights, and possibly catching fire.

Hey Dustin. Been a while my friend. My stand builder is doing some fantastic (FAST) work. One week after handshake, I have got some progress. Shouldnt be long now, so no need for extra rigging.

So as unusual as this is, I have another update already thanks to John's speedy and fantastic work...

Crazy right. No updates for 6 months and then you find a reliable person that does what he says hes gonna do and two updates in one week. Side caps for stand, some sanding, and staining coming up shortly. Thanks for looking!

Very nice to see you are finally getting that skinned. I am sure the misses is more than excited about that. The tank is looking good. Glad to see you are making more progress with this tank. One question is have is how are putting the skin on the frame?

She's not the only one. Skin was planned to just drill a holding block to the frame in the back, but it turns out it wasnt necessary. It ended up fitting like a glove. Just slid right in front.

That's looking sexy! Should make your tank look complete in the next few weeks.

The time has come. Its here!

Stand is FINALLY here!!! and 1 week ahead of schedule too. Can't say enough about John at FBN Woodworks. Great guy, listens, keeps in touch, send you pics and updates, works quick and professional.

Hello

I have a question about your aquarium stand

How did it go with the design and strength of the steel stand aquarium, you had a problem with the stand?

Many thanks.
