Space need to remove cup on Octopus skimmer..?

I am looking at getting the Octopus recirc 250 skimmer. it is 26.5" tall and i have 27.5" of room. will i be able to remove the cup with that much room or not? does anyone know how much room is required to remove it? thanks

yeah you'll be ale to remove it...they use unions on the cups and you only need about 1/4" to get it off. they have drains in the collection cup which means you'll only have to remove it to clean it anyway. I clean my cup every 4-7 days, reall just depending on my schedule and level of laziness that week

Why the 1/4" is there an acylic lip?

no, you really don't need any space to remove it...it's just easier to get it back on IMHO with a little clearance, that way you know you haven't bumped the o-ring out of it's groove.
