For some reason I fill like I'm talking to myself in this thread. Will not post anymore updates.

Oh please don't stop. I'm reading and thinking about giving breeding a try. Your posts are great for those wondering what to expect as they go along.

Thank you for continuing to update this thread. I'm subscribing to it. My wife and I will be watching for updates!

You are more than welcome and posting videos is work too. I believe that sharing our experiences is best for the hobby. Some professional breeders my not agree with my posts, but I'm only a home hobbyist and that cool with me. My pair spawn last night and they go back to the DT.

I like your attitude. I like to share what I can. Like how I got rid of my CPR overflow box and didn't drill the tank and have a much better water flow with what I built. I'm looking for some really black and really white bar clowns. Also a couple of the gold stripped maroons.

My clowns eggs should hatch tonight.

I have used this thread as my template for trying to raise my Clowns.

Thank you!

You're welcome.

I wouldn't call my thread any kind of template for success. I had a few failed attempts in the begining and after many more hours of research, I felt I had most of the bugs worked out. That's when I decided to start this thread. Just keep trying until you find out what works for you.

Another spawn hatch tonight. Just posted for learning.

Another spawn hatch tonight. Just posted for learning.

When the hatch is forthcoming quickly I just wanted to show how both parents get highly involved. Typically, at least with my pair the male (and he's the best) it mostly the caretaker of the spawn. But on hatch night she gets highly active and very involved in that process. The hatch will be tonight and I'm sorry to say goes back to the reef. As I said in an earlier post I need that break so I don't feel bad. Should I?

Need to ask you all watching the thread do you think it's run it's course? If so please let me know.

I would let it run it's course. You gotta keep in your mine that you can't raise them all. I had a hard time at first thinking I would raise every single batch. I let my gold stripe pair go every week in favor of other clowns like my rods onyx.

Sport, I first want to thank you for your post and all the help you have given me. I dont blame you for taking a "break". So much work goes into raising these guys and you have not only raised them but recorded your progress so that others like me can learn from your experience.
I am still waiting for another chance to raise a batch like yours!

Amazing clownfish behavior!

Amazing clownfish behavior!

Ok I haven’t posted in a while but I found out something that is truly amazing. I was trying to induce my new pair to start spawning so I took the eggs from the DT breeding pair and put them in their flower pot and these two clowns are tending the eggs that I took out on Monday. I figured that they would eat the eggs being it wasn’t thier spawn but they are tending them. WOW! is all I have to say. What are your thoughts on this?

Sorry, for the poor video, batteries were low on the flash light but there is about 400 eggs on that slate, just a guess.

They are tending them perfectly no fungus or anything on those eggs.

That is really interesting. I was thinking of trying this once when a pair stalled out, but was scared of the eggs being eaten. Really cool to see them tending the eggs. Who knows, perhaps it will encourage them as well.

I wasn't worried about the eggs getting eaten because I wasn't going to raise them anyway. The coolest part is the eggs are a different species of clownfish. I will just let the eggs hatch in the tank because I want to document their behavior through this process. After the hatch I will scrub the slate down and put it back in their pot and I would almost bet the farm that they will spawn soon after and lay their eggs on that slate. We shall see.

Maybe we can all learn something from this experiment.
