Spawn 5 another attempt.

Spawn 7 just ended.

Spawn 7 just ended.

I had a poster in another thread that ask how to I protect the eggs. No worries the parents will chase any fish away no matter how big. You will see it in the end of the video.

Night friends

I am also following along. We are in a similar situation, I have averaged 67 hours per week over the last 52 weeks! But since they have decided to spawn so regularly I want to try to raise a batch. Keep up the good work in the thread!

Day 24 no loses.

Day 24 no loses.

Over the weekend I had a bit of an ammoina problem which I got under control quickly because there were so many in my 20L. I set up another 10 gallon and move about a 3rd of them. I will have them in a 40 breeder this weekend. The water in the 20 is a still a little cloudy but ammonia is well within the safe zone in both thanks.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but so busy these days. LOL

20 Yes that is Aiptasia you see....My Bad?

Sport, Great Job!!! Wow! how cool are all of these. I can fully appreicate this now because I know the work that has gone into each and every day. How is the Spawn 7 batch doing so far? Also it appears that you have combined fry from different batches into one tank. Is that correct?
I was wondering because I have the 5 fry from my first batch and was hoping to have more this week. If I have survivors from my first batch can I combine them with my 2nd after the
2nd goes through meta?

ID question for those that really know clown types.

ID question for those that really know clown types.

A little off my thread topic but I met a profession clown breeder at the INDMAS frag swap 2 week ago and he had it going on. Was only selling Snow Flakes, Black Ice, Picasso's and a few Ocellaris. I showed him my spawn 5 thread and he told me the parents looked like they were Mocha clowns and said they were a cross between the percula's, ocellaris and the black clowns.

Here is a pic of the when I'd had them about 2 months.

What do you think they are?

Day 31 full tail stripe now.

Spawn 7 has been my best thus far. Still only day 4 for them but looking good they will be starting meta on Friday. We all learn together.

Day 32 just wanted them to have some live BBS.

wOW!!! great work!!!!

Thanks, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not close to an expert. I've only been doing this a couple months and still have a lot to learn about it. I think that there is not really a set standard but rather parameters to work within. One of the things I think that's help me is I'm not afraid to try different things.

Just like, I start doing ½ gallon daily water changes after day 3 (I use 5 gallon tanks) other may say don't do any water change until after meta. For me this has really increased my survival rate and always remember to drip the replacement water back in.

Something else I do is, the night of the hatch I let them swim for a couple of hour then I load the tank with rotifers and will not turn the lights out for the first 48 hours. I also use pretty strong air flow with an air stones on each end of the tank because I don't want them laying on the bottom in groups and let fungus get them. When I'm around and see some on the bottom I will take a turkey baster and blow them back into the water column. Now these are things that are working for me, you might find better ways for your set ups.

The one thing that is a set standard, it's a hell of a lot of WORK!

i'm tagging along. my mated pair just laid a ton of eggs. would be great to read your experiences so i know what to do when i'm better prepared next time!

Nice work. Wanted you to know that I am still enjoying the thread! I now have a harvestable population of rotifers, so the next batch of eggs are going into a 5 gallon tank for me to make my first attempt. Your thread has been an important part of my research, thank you for it!
