Spawning Bangai

My male is brooding a sac of eggs. Has anyone else had experience when the male tries to eat even though he has a mouth full of eggs? Mine keeps grabbing a chunk of shrimp or krill and spits it back out in a few minutes every time I feed the rest of my tank,

Yeah I've had the same.

I caught mine and put him in a breeders net during the 21 days. I think the female and also food floating around can distract him. I would rather play it safe putting him in a net.

I've never seen that happen with mine, but I know the next time mine is carrying I am going to catch him and get him out by himself. Either that or strip the eggs which I'd rather not do. I'd be fearful of him actually spitting them out sometime to just eat, or accidentally swallow them. Just my 2 cents.

If you catch him just try not to lift him out of the water. I set a fishtrap (3ltr clear bottle with a large hole) and chased him in then placed that over the net letting him swim into it. Normally they will spit or eat the eggs if there out of the water.

I was around the 10 day mark when I put him in. The female had already started to hassle him, trying to get him to hold another batch. Two days after he spat the eggs he was holding again.

My 21 bangers are nearly two weeks old so far and I haven't lost one yet :bounce3:
