Spawning snail

I have a snail that i think was spawning. It was at the top of my tank stretched upward and releasing thousands of little what i think was eggs. My fish were going crazy eating them. It this what the snail was doing and if so will i have lots of baby snails in my tank?

Sounds like astrea snails and yes there will be little ones
