Speaking of the website ...

I've been working on an updated look for the DRC website, and I'd love to get some feedback. I haven't gotten all the content done, but there is enough that you can get a feel for the look.

So check it out, and fire the comments back at me.

I like it. the background doesn't line up with the text on the right side with the resolution I am using on my screen though.

Perhaps if you were to set the width of the middle column to a size that when added to the size of the buttons on the menu would push the text in the third column into the blue. If all of that made sense, LoL.
If you need any help please let me know I have been designing websites and typing HTML code since before most people even know what a website was.

IE/Windows XP Pro/1024X768
IE6.0.2900.2180

I also took a look at it using Windows Vista and IE7+ to see how it would look and it came out perfect.

I think this design your doing will be clearer and easier to navigate. Looks pretty good. :-)

Wierd. Looked fine with my version of IE6. Not sure which build, but it was on WinXP/SP2. I'l look @ it again.

Maybe the MacBook hardware was slapping the M$ software into shape on my end ... :)

Hi Ted. It looks like you and Barry G have made a smooth transfer of webmaster. Looking good Ted!

I want to thank you too, Barry, for getting us back in business and tending the website all the past year. Great job and it is aprreciated by all.

It's good to have guys like you two in the club. It really makes a difference.

Thanks
ken

Alright, IE compatibiltily achieved. I think ... I hate it when the tail tries to wag the dog. Add me to the long list of people who think the world would be a better place if Microsoft went away.

I'm really hoping to take a few more hits here, folks.

Hate the colors?
Hate the links?
Hate the format?

I'm also looking for direction on the sponsors page. Maybe we could take a few moments @ the next meeting on that.

I like the overall look as it is clean and a blue background seems appropriate for a reef club, nice job.

I do have a few suggestions for minor upgrades...

- The navigation bar colors don't work for me because the white text on the gold buttons is hard to read. When you roll over the buttons, the blue background contrasts nice with the white text

- Same comment on the links as the gold color with the light blue background is hard to read (not enough contrast)

- I would also slide the text over on the navigation buttons so that the band of color doesn't run through the first leeter of every text link

Enough nitpicking as everything else looks great. Thanks!

Nitpick away ... that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for ... :)

Let us know when you have things updated or changed at all. I can nit pick the heck out of it. I get a bit obsessive compulsive with my website.(that's why I currently don't have it on the web because it's not flawless enough.)

Very nice Ronert.
Hmm what about a sub posting underneath everything such as topics covered in the past meeting?
Something to draw curiousity and be semi-informational? Maybe in a scrolling boxed format?

OR

Posting ALL the LFS with name, times, address in a scrolling box (same format)?

I wouldn't like to see "ALL" of the LFSs listed. It would almost like we would be sending new or potential members to places not all of us would approve of. If we had all on there I would have to tell you to include one store I know of that is smaller then size of our meeting room in the library. They have marine fish, they just don't know it. Maybe we could vote on the top 5 with in... say 100miles?

True Jon, maybe it was a bad idea to include "ALL".
My point was to generate interest locally.
Being as that opinion would also be attached to the club as a recommendation of sorts, maybe it's not as viable as I'd hoped?

A top 5 at the same time, could breed some animosity? Hmm maybe better to just throw out that idea for now until a better one comes along.

when i mentioned above about needing help on the sponsors page, those are precisely the issues i was thinking of. that, in and of itself, could be a topic for a meeting .... lol.

as for the scrolling idea, i was actually thinking of a 'random sponsor' to go with the random tip. the old site had a 'tip of the day' thing, so we have 31 tips in storage. with the random tip db, we could have 'unlimited' tips. so if ou have more, shoot them my way, as well.

i have not worked on the meeting archive, yet. i wantd to know if that was an interest. evidenly, it is.

seadoo's comments have been (i think) addressed. so pick away Jon!
