Speaking of the website ...

I keep meaning to mention that I really like Chris's idea(cmondo). "What do you guys think about having a sticky thread at the top of the forum for everyone to post pictures of their tank in? Or possibly on the website?"

I have always thought it would be cool to see some photos of people tanks and to hear a bit about them. I know not everyone in here has a digital camera, but perhaps some of us who do have them could bring them along on a tank tour! (Won't that look great, having half the reef club in your house taking pictures looking like a group of gawking foreign tourist at an aquarium, lol.)

I realize though that making these pages with info and pics would add a great deal of work to the site. I would love to take on working on that part of the website. I am normally pretty busy, but I am taking some much needed vacation time in Jan. What are you using to edit the site? I thought I heard someone say they used notepad in the meeting, but I wasn’t sure if that was you. Notepad, paint, and a good photo editor just to crop and size my photos is all I ever used.

I had never paid attention to the Macna best club site icon before on the old site. That's pretty cool. The graphic looks a bit old though. I know Macna made that, but if you could use it I would recreate it with cleaner/less fuzzy graphics. Just let me know.

Jon

PS. Wow if you guys thought I talked too much during the school year I bet your sick of me already now that it is winter break. (No one said that, I just noticed that my name was listed as "Last Post" pretty often and I know when I type things they are usually lengthy. I think I get it from my father.)

The pic idea is good. I've been thinking on that, as well. The problem: the current site has very little storage capability. If we moved to a different provider, that could change. I don't know what we currently pay (if at all) for the site hosting, but I do know that for around $65-70 per year, we could get a WHOLE lot more. Moving the site is an issue that needs to be discussed at a meeting, though.

Depends what platform I'm on at the time. I switch between a handful of OS's a lot during the course of a day. Most of what I do @ home is either OSX or Win. On Win - HTMLKit and Photoshop and on OSX - Smultron and Photoshop. The notepad comment was me. Both HTMLKit and Smultron are basic editors (like notepad) with a few nice features (contextual highlighting being the most useful for me).

I think the real question is DO WE NEED IT? It's old. And, it looks old. I changed the background to transparent, so it's a bit more useful; but, do we need to advertise we won 3rd place a couple of years ago?

BTW, I liked your scrolling text idea, Dave. thx

Lol, have you been working on this the whole time or did you just wake up at 6:30am to start working on this again?

i like my sleep ... the changes i made in response to seadoo's comments only took about 5 minutes ... CSS makes style issues a piece of cake

the last changes i made were the night previous to that long winded reply of mine ... so pick away, Jon (et. al.)
