Specs On New Smaller Streams?

Try this link http://reefcentral.com/sponsors/tunze/

I have a feeling it may now be late March as some other projects got in the way. In addition some computer issues and increasing demand for the older pumps has caused a backlog. The electronic motor blocks and drivers have a maximum production of about 150 units per week and standard motor blocks are about 250 per week, divide that over 32 countries and we have trouble keeping up. As soon as I have some pumps on the way i will post. For right now the only new items on the immediate horizon are skimmers with a new venturi that produces 25% more air and a smaller bubble and new controllers for pH and redox.

OK< I guess the link was removed in the change to the new board. The Electronic version 6000 will be variable between about 800 and 2200 gph, the non electronic version 6060 will do 1600gph.

No, not any smaller. At best we could shave a 1/2" off on the electronic pumps and the cost of making a new mold would not be worth while. The coil is the same only less power is going through it. On the non electronic pump the coil is physically the same size but with finer wire, the entire pump is full when you add the ground strap and the thermastatic switch.

That venturi wouldn't happen to be making it's way onto the 230/3 skimmer that I ordered two weeks ago, would it? :) Or is this a new line of skimmer altogether?

I am not sure if it will be on this run or the next one, but it is retrofittable from what I understand. It will be a one piece unit versus the old models two piece unit. I was told that it almost doubles performance but they figured putting that on the box might sound crazy so they said 25% improvement. I am eager to see it myself. Supposedly the bubbles are smaller, more consistent and of nearly a one to one ratio with the water vs the current 2 water to 1 air ratio.

If it's not on the skimmer I ordered, do you have any idea if the venturi will be available as a seperate product?

Thanks!

Yes absolutely, we always offer upgrades and retrofits when it is a safe and practical option. I currently have upgrades to convert 7410/2 pumps that are within 9 months old to Stream 6110 pumps, the same with converting 3000/2 to 6080 we always try to take care of our customers. The main thing is retrofits aren't universal, in the case of the pumps a pump older than 9 months and thats production not sales date cannot run relaibly with the conversion and you void the warranty trying to do so, Tunze products may look the same but litteraly every run has a slight design change to improve something and it may be very subtle but it is their, trust me as a repairman it gets to be a lot to know. Any skimmer with a /3 designation will be refittable and possibly farther back than that. I think the best analogy is the Volkswagen Beetle, 4235 parts, only one was the same on the last car as it was on the first, the hood gasket. Yet on the outside they all look pretty much the same.
