Sped wave or diablo dc pump

Yet another follow up: DC-6000. Reiterating what I had written in my earlier post, the flow, compared to the 5000, is definitely considerably less. While purchasing some supplies at the local reef shop I noticed two DC-6000 behind the counter that the store owner was trying to return to RLSS because they were defective; apparently, just like mine. He had Adam check the flow with head pressure and indeed their is a problem that is said to be associated with the controllers. I've e-mailed saltysupply and rlss... will update this yet again.

Well I've got a 12000 Waveline from Europe & I don't know about "New & Improved" Used the thing a week & it's on full, yet is lucky to be shooting out 3000 litres per hour. Seems to be a controller issue though, opposed to a pump issue. Should be fun getting support for something not even released in most of the world.
Honestly though, pretty sad I'm needing support for something ran for a week, when most people haven't even received theirs.

Ok so people don't seem to happy with these new pumps. I wanted to get the diablo one but its been out of stock for awhile... What other pump that's silent and to expensive

I've got a waveline DC-6000 pump and the flow on it isn't even half of what it is rated. Emailed Adam at RLSS twice now about the flow. 1st email went out on 8/12/13 and the second on 8/16/13 and I still have gotten no response. Lame !!

Is anyone using the diablo as an external return pump?

They say they can be used as closed loop, and come with inlet and output fittings, which seems to imply that they do not need to be submerged.

They say you can use it as external but the o ring on that thing looks kind of cheap so I was a are too use it externally.

When I asked in an email to Rich at Salty Supply he said they can but they don't recommend it. I never tried it.

What size plumbing are you using? I suspect that it makes a big difference with these pumps.
