Splendid or yellow dottyback (or neither)

I'm so thinking about adding a dottyback to my tank. One that has some yellow in it. I'm looking into either a yellow or splendid dottyback. I know these fish have a reputation for being pretty aggressive, but he would need to be to get by in my tank. He'd be going in with some established clownfish, a small melanarus wrasse, candy candycane hogfish, as well as a purple firefish and a starcki damsel.

Any thoughts on which dotty would be best?

I've heard the yellows can lose their coloration. Divers Den has a few nice splendid dotties for sale.

IME, very aggressive. Firefish may be endanger and possible the wrasse, if he is passive. I think the damsel, hogfish, and clown will hold it's own. This could be hit or miss.

I personally wouldn't as those two species don't play well with others. If you want some yellow you would be better with a sunrise dotty which aren't as timid as a fridmani but not as mean as the other two. They are also available captive bred.
Another species which should work but can be feistier, although ime better than your options, is the Arabian dotty. They aren't yellow but a bright orange with blue. Again captive bred and not massively troubling if you only have one (they are very rough on partners) but experience does vary.

I'm quite surprised your firefish is doing well. I wouldn't think such a timid species would and I would be a little worried that a dotty might change the dynamic of the tank.
