splicing sps

Has anyone tried splicing or fraging different colours and/or species together.
Is this possible or even a good idea?

It's possible, it's called grafting. If you ask me it's the method behind "rainbow chalices" though I have no proof. There are several "grafted" pieces for sale in the hobby, how they do it is kept secret for the most part. Unique Corals has a thread somewhere on scoly fragging, they are attempting to do some grafting with them. Keep us updated if you do try it.

I just started keeping sps corals so I am yet to even do a normal frag but I am intrested in doing some grafting

Yes I have seen three simplex grafted do a search and you see it.
