Splitting Birdsnest and/or poccilapora

I've got a very large green birdsnest and pink poccilapora that are growing into each other that I need to do something about. Both are probably 6" diameter. I really don't want to create a large number of small frags. Is there anyway to split the colony in two??? I'm afraid that if I try to split it it half, I just end of crushing it.

You inevitably will end up with plenty of frags. The birdsnest is very fragile. If they are not burning each other, I will leave them be. It's more interesting to see two corals with branches extending to the others'.

Problem is they have both grown so huge in the last 1 1/2 year, from a small frag to over 6" diameter each. Nowhere for them to continue growing. I would have liked to split them in halfs or fourths and then just keep one section - but I was afraid that wouldn't be possible.
