Splitting blue/purple mushroom photo

This purple/blue mushroom that I bought for $6 at my LFS has split twice already and is in the process of splitting for the third time. I snapped this photo tonight after the lights went out. It's easy to see how it's pulling apart from the tissue that it's going to leave behind as a new head. You can also see the two splits that happened over the last 3 weeks. The one on the bottom-right is the latest split that I actually just noticed before snapping this pic. You normally can't see that one because the mother piece opens so large that it blocks the view.

Thought I'd share. The first time this mushroom split and I saw the tissue kind of tearing apart, I thought the tissue was actually receding and the coral was dying. Now I know better. :)

Cool Pic - I just had a mushroom do that, but even more extreme - the mushroom cap was on this thin string of tissue coming from the (former) base about 4" long blowing in the current... like the parachute in a drag race, if you know what I mean. It finally 'released' yesterday and the cap is finding a new home. I think it was ****ed because it was touching a ricordea that was stinging it. It looks like the foot will become two mushrooms. Cool stuff.

the four letter word for "urinate" as a past participle is censored?!? That's ridiculous. I mean, I understand filtering true profanity, but considering that word profanity is awfully prude. Anyways... I'll stop urinating in this thread and potentially 'asterisk-asterisk-asterisk-asterisk-ing off' the mods... back to mushrooms. :)

You could just take a razor blade and cut off the splitting section to speed things up, but soon you could have too many! They are kind of like xenias and aiptasia, in that they will grow from a extremely small piece of tissue.
