Splitting Ricordia

I just read on our local forum, DFWMAS, that instead of taking the mushrooms out of the tank and off of the rock before cutting them... that you can use an exacto knife and split them while they are still on the rock and attached.

Has anyone ever tried this method?

I have a large variety of colors... but only one of each. So, I am very tempted to try splitting a couple.

Just an FYI but this really belongs in the corallimorpharians forum. Mushrooms and rics are pretty tough, if you nich the edge it could very well cause it to split. However they grow pretty fast on their own.
