spong id please

here it is. all i know when i got it 3 years ago it was called a plate spong looking for more info..

You're not going to be able to ID it any farther than to say it's a Demosponge, which is the group pretty much all of the large, shallow water sponges are in. Sponge ID is nearly impossible even for experts working with actual specimens. You just can't get there from a picture.

FWIW, to go in to further details on identifying sponges, you'll need to take a sample of the spicules (the structures that form the body of the sponge) under a microscope. Greenbean's answer is all you're really going to get with accuracy.
 
Yourself and the person you got it from are probably the authorities on this sponge. Even if you could identify it you aren't likely to find any accurate information about its life history.
