Sponge question

quick question-

i have really been focused on the tank and everything is looking good. Except i have an orange sponge and ever since i have had it about 5 months it has been very slowly receeding. It is placed inthe bottom of the tank under 5 t5's and VHO with mid flow and i feed phyto.

Any idea on how i can get it to grow again? or should i frag it up to let others try? let me know if you have an idea.....thanks

Shane from what I have seen they like Really low light like the underside of rocks or sump lighting and a tank thats has some nitrates and phos. What are your tank test results at now?

Ya sponges like it close to the dark, up in the shaded areas under the shelf rock or something. I had one that just melted when I left it out in the open.

I had one that was about 3" in diameter. I moved it around the tank letting it get attached to the rocks. The original sponge died, but I now have 2 smaller ones that are growing. One is 1/4" and the other is about 3/8" in diameter. What are you feeding it?

thanks guys, i'll move it around and try to find a shadded spot. I don't have a lot of rock for shade but I'll look......feeding just phyto...should i feed anything else?
