Sponges??

Are they good? Or bad? Perhaps neutral?

I have a small quater sized patch of sponge in my tank, and I don't know if I should remove it, or just let it be..

If it is an isolated case of phosphate removal, why not keep it?

If it can spread like the plague, why haven't I removed it?

Ideas??

Sponge is good, not invasive generally speaking.

They are filter feeders that will help keep your water clean. Most sponges in aquariums tend to grow under rocks and mostly out of sight. There may be a 'bad' sponge, but I've never heard of one.
