ok since I have been watching this baby RBTA so closely , I have noticed that I have a really prolific supply of bright yellow sponges and some bright blue , some black and even some dark purple. I have had the yellow for a long long time but it seems to be spreading and getting healthier. Is there something that would cause sponge to be so prolific? I am asking if there may be something happening in the tank that will need my attention. You know like the phosphates causing bad things to happen...I must admit it gives the tank a lot of color and with the exception of one cluster of palys none of it is threatening corals. That one cluster needs some of it removed and I will do that soon.
The baby anemone is still hanging in there so it may make it after all . It still wats to lay on it's face but it is still moving and bright pink . It is amazing how much time I spend sitting and starring at it and finding neat stuff in the tank at the same time.

Sponges are normally a good thing to have. They are filter feeders and usually cause little harm to corals. Are you dosing the tank with phytoplankton?

I have some yellow and white ones that grow and recede, if you want to get rid of any of the blue or purple let me know.

I used to dose with DT's but since the last bottle I bought went rancid really quickly , I have not been doing it for a few months.
Good to know that it is not a sign that things are not up to par. I test my water monthly ..sometimes more and the perimeters have stayed steady . Scott that blue sponge is a kind of thin layer that covers one of my flat rocks. I did blow some loose with a turkey baster and put it on another rock so if it starts speading, I will share with you. The purple is a golf ball sized covering on another rock and I have never tried to remove any of it . Before next month's meeting, I will see if it will blow loose as easily as the blue did . I really wanted to try to get some of the blue to take hold on the base of my "palyzoa tree" so I am waiting to see if what I have moved so far is going to thrive.
