spot on Clarki clown??????

get a cheap 10 gallon, they are like 10 dollars and treat with maracyn 2 for the full five days to see if the spot goes away. I cant say enough good things about this product. I recently purchased a WC clarkii that wasnt doing well and the maracyn has completely turned her around.

thanks stykthyn..I will research that medicine...are you familiar with Mardel Maroxy Saltwater/Freshwater Medication? I have alot of corals and inverts and am worried that it may harm my tank! as for getting a 10 gal, seems cheap enough and I have ALOT of stuff leftover from my FW tank (heater, pump) just to note the spot is kinda a red/tan spot only on his left white stripe???? any ideas what that may be...he seems to be in extremely good shape...fat, eats, swims all over and is not acting crazy, the other Clarkii is doing perfect and has NO spots.

Sorry Heather, that was the only pic that came through.

As Stykthyn said, a 10 gallon tank and a 100w heater shouldn't set you back more than $25 and will make treating her simple. You can fill the QT up with water from the tank, if the tank water is carrying anything the maracyn2 will knock it out too. If it were me, I'd probably give her a freshwater dip on the way to QT to knock off anything that might be clinging to her. Just be sure to buffer the fw up to the same ph as the tank water. This can easily be done in a water bucket or even a piece of tupperware.

Dan ya know I was gonna try a FW dip..and for the QT tank I think I need one.........I have been waiting for an excuse to get one.lol

you never need a good excuse to get a QT tank, and there is never an excuse for not having one. medicating the display should never be done even if the medication claims to be reef safe. As long as the fish is eating and acting healthy I would say thet it will be ok. If you go with the maracyn treat for the full five days. I have no experience with the mardel product. I'm sorry. I am always leary of medications that are for salt/freshwater use. Marine organisms have a completely different make up and I just dont trust products that claim to eliminate both. When I first started the hobby copper and formalin were the cure all for everything, and I cant tell you how many fish I lost during a copper treatment. The maracyn is an antibiotic cocktail that the ish absrob through the skin, its also loaded with vitamins and other ingredients to help the animals along while they are healing. I just cant say enough about this stuff.

here is a pic of my newest guy to come out of QT. He was WC and nearly didnt survive the bag trip to my house. laying on side gasping for breath, parasites, he had it all. I can honestly say if it wasnt for the maracyn wouldnt have made it.

here is a quickie I shrank, those pics are huge!
if you can try not to zoom in so much, they come out fuzzy.

is he missing scales, it almost appears to be some sort of abbrasion. how long has he been this way?
If he hasnt been cut then I would say it is an infection of some sort. My best guess was he scraped himself and is infected.
Definitely nonfatal and will probably pass with time given proper nutrition and clean water.
