Sps and bta

What stingy said... Only in my tank, surprisingly, it avoided every coral I have and planted itself in the perfect spot... Almost like it wants to be center of attention

Well, just because it plants in one spot for a month doesn't mean it will stay there.
I have 3 in my tank now and some will occasionally move a good 3-5 inches.

I'm starting a new tank and was thinking of putting the rbta in early so it could find a spot before adding my sps

RBTA go where they like the current and light. As you add other corals to the tank and as they grow your flow will change and the anemone may decide it no longer likes that spot. Mine will move if I make any changes to my wavemaker whether it is the angle the powerheads are pointing or flow rate.

That said I know several people (myself included) that have RBTA in their tanks.

Best thing you could do is create an island type aquascape. It's not a 100% guarantee that it won't detach and float to another island but it at least improves your chances of it staying away from your sps. It's worked for me so far.

Mine moved around a bit. I monitored it closely and saw that it preferred hanging out in the back, so I ended up aquascaping around it. Once settled in, it hasn't moved. It does sting the crap out of the corals around it though.

If you have bubble tips in a sps display the bts will eventually move and you will eventually loose a nice piece. It's just a matter of time. Maybe your system wont last long enough for it to happen but they always move eventually. As long as you are ok with that, there is no problem with mixing them.

I had one in my system for many years. It would always stay in its happy spot. Only time it was really a pain was when it would split. For some reason both halves would take off and move across my tank in different directions. I would remove one and put the other back into the original spot and it would stay there until it would eventually split again. Not a huge issue really. Unless you're not home for a few days when it happens.
It does kill everything around it that it can touch. It can reach out pretty far sometimes too. As you can never tell how large it will get each time before it splits.

I had a green BTA. I left for Winter Break to find it split not once but twice so I had three that wandered and wiped out ALL my sps as they moved from one spot to another. By the time I got back all I had left in my 100 gallon was my torch, cyanarina, fish and three large green RBTA's. Needless to say the RBTA is gone and my sps frags I purchased to replace my others are doing nicely and growing.
