As some of you already know, I have started the process of selling corals in order to free up space so that I can combine my 75 gallon into my 125 g system to make an integrate mixed reef so that I can close down my 75 g system. Though I have already sold some large soft and sps coral colonies, I still have quite a way to go befor I can integrate the systems. I will start by posting some of the major sps colonies that I can bring myself to let go of. I will save frags of some of these to regrow and keep the gene pool alive.
Bytor's "Killer Tort" - After much badgering, I finally got Bytor 9a well known aquarist in NE PA) to cough up a 1/4 inch frag of his favorite sps which has become known in these parts as the "killer tort". I don't believe it is a tortuosa but acropora echinata. It looks exactly like this http://www.fragfarmer.com/Fragfarmer-Echinata-p-584.html
Frags go for $80 on Frag Farmer and more on Atlantis but I have been selling frags for $45 - 60. Over the last 4 years, I have grown two colonies from that tiny frag and will now sell the larger one for no less than $225. It is about the size of a grapefruit with many radial branches some of which can be fragged to pay for itself.
orange/pink monti capricornis: despite being a common coral, this is probably the most striking part of my 125g display due to its size (volleyball), shape and color. This baby is huge and would make an instant centerpiece for any developing reef system. It took 5 years to grow this out from the original Steve Lowes frag. Asking $150
grape monti capricornis: this coral is about 1 ft across. It is a rich purple (the brightest I have seen of this coral) with very bright blue polyps. Asking $125.
blue tenuis acropora: pineapple size colony of this teal with blue tip coral. This can produce a tremendous number of frags. $130
pink (bright rasberry) birdsnest : large grapefruit size; $120
Rick Maleys tri-color acro - I believe this to be acropora nana- Multiple long purple tipped branches. This guy is a slow grower and took a long time to reach this size. $85
metallic green stylophora: this baby liuterally "pops" under bluer halides or actinics. Softball size. Can provide many frags. $115
large rock covered with bright orange montipora digitata and montipora peltiformis (yellow plating/encrusting with blue polyps). $85
large pieces of montipora peltiformis. This thing is huge but I probably can't take it out without breaking it. I will sell large pieces for $25-30.
pavona cactus coral - spalding ball size colony - $55
potato chip coral colony - baseball sized colony- cream color but very cool shape - $60
tricolor pocillopora - two colonies each about 4' across - $35
acropora valida colony - purple with bright green coralites - one of the prettiest tri-color acroporas - many small compact axial branches. Colony is about 5 inches across. $85
rare and as yet unidentified metallic green pavona- super bright metallic green. Completely encrusts a 10" rock and three large "prickly pear" plates. Took years to get to this size. Forms very heavy plates and encrusts. Very striking coral and very rare in the hobby. $120
I can also provide large frags of ORA Scripps Green Tipped Staghorn. A beautuful light green stag with delicate thin branches. large frags/ $20 each.
Steve Lowes White Tipped staghorn - Colony is about 10" across. Cream color branches with bright white tips. Not too colorful and yet very striking growth formation $80.
Huge Bali Devils Hand Sinularia - This is the mother softy. Just the trunk of this old girl is about 6" across. Very bright polyps. This is an instant centerpiece. I'll be sorry to see this one go. One of my first corals. I just need the real estate. asking $125. I sold more frags of this than any other soft coral. Her babies are in a lot of tanks.
I think thats it for colonies for now. Most colonie can still cough up frags until sold as colonies if folks are just interested in frags. I have other colonies that can be fragged as well such as my Efflo Soli, Snipers Misty Blue staghorn, metallic green monti danae, unknown crazy green monti cap, purple digi etc.
