Now im starting to get into a lot of sps and im gluing them in some pretty nice spots. now when they grow out or if i decide to add more will i have a war going on in my tank over turf like lps like to do lol.:lol2: are they are tips you guys could give me on placing sps corals? Also should i be sticking specific species of sps in the same area say 2-4 inches away from one another or can i mix and match species and color? sorry for the newbe questions on sps. ive been mostly messing with a lot of lps and now starting to get into these expensive sticks. thank you guys for your time.

ps: i see all these tanks with sps growing like crazy to the point you cant see any rock. how does that work out? it seams like all the corals are touching one another at some point on themselves when growing outward? thoughts?

Don't put any monti caps in there, LOL!

Just give them 6 inches or so from frags and take it from there. They will usually grow around each other.

ok so even if the grow out and kinda touch each other they will be fine? i know corals tens to grow around and away but i know eventually they will touch. if they do they wont kill each other right? id hate to see a nice colony get killed off because of poor coral placment.

It will be hit or miss if they stonys want to fight with each other. I would be a little gracious on giving them space in between each other.

Sorry for the poor quality but is the space between these corals look ok?

PS: tank will be up for about 1-2 more years and then we are moving. which means new aquascape and maybe bigger tank. so i dont know how slow or fast these corals take but as long as they are good between this distance for 2 years im ok with that.

Spacing looks good. Wish I have more room in my tank to space them out like you. Most of my frags are within 2-3 inches of another frag. Hoping to do a major upgrade from 120g to 250g within a year before they start running into each other.

What seems like good spacing today can look terrible in a year or more. I hear the complaint a lot that the best pieces were acquired later and didn't get the optimal placement. One way of dealing with this issue is pegging. You drill holes in your rock all over the place and leave the corals on a wide plug. If the coral grows in the direction of another coral you move the plug to another hole.

My corals were placed that same way when small but eventually grew and are now about to touch

Best advice I can give is put them as far apart as you think you need to...then move them further apart. :D

I think those two acros along the bottom are a little close, but you never know. They might grow together, or the might end up growing in ways that they down't run into each other. Typically if they touch, one "wins".
Also, be careful of the encrusting monti. Not sure what it is, but I don't think I'll ever put encrusting montis in my tank again. My rainbow and my pokerstars swallow up real estate at an alarming rate. Love the way they look, but damn they grow fast.

It will definatly be hit or miss. Some will grow over & some will grow around each other. I'm constantly cutting them back-then it's time for a bigger tank!
