The camera settings I was using was ISO 400, AV priority switching between f2.8-f4.5. Everything shot threw the glass this time (I can't use my photo box w/this camera :( ) If you go to my pbase account, and click on any photo it will show you the EXIF data. http://www.pbase.com/brahm/marine_life (at the bottom)

maybe I will send you a frag for a photo op. what is that red stag before the lemonade?

Cool, I'm going to be in socal this weekend. I'll shoot you back a PM. That piece isn't red it's like a really smooth brown that kinda wants to be lavender. Maybe under some different lights, but not the "I'm mad" brown.. It has bright lavender tips that normally just shot white, and it can get red rings on the end of the terminal polpys. I don't know why it came it looking as red as it did when I shot it threw the glass. Here is a top down of the same piece. It's a nice piece in person but never really photographs welll.

What a brand of lens and camera did you use?
I am planning to buy a macro lens, but not sure which one is good.
Your pictures are awesome!

Congrats, great looking macro shots, beautiful coral. What lighting are you currently running?

Thanks, I'm running 2x 250w radiums in luminarc 3 minis, they are about 9 months old probably time for new bulbs.

I'm using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro, camera is a Canon 1dMII. Camera is a bit old, better stuff for cheaper these days but the lens is great. Thanks for the compliment!

Hi,

Post #2 image 6, ID please. I have this corals and have never gotten an ID and yours looks so similar.

Beautiful images. It makes me happy that I am not the only one with acropora image syndrome ( an uncommon emotion of happiness when both viewing and taking images of acropora).

:-)

Thank, you know I'm not sure on the ID for this piece. When I originally got it, it was very smooth with flush coralites. I think I bought it as a formosa but that can't be correct. Over time that has started to change and the coralites have been cupping in a U shape in newer growth, with the terminal polyp squaring off.

Here is a picture of the whole piece (I lost the middle of it to AEFW, but it's been growing since I rid them from this piece.)
