Need advice, on problem with millipora fadding at the bottom. The upper portions of the coral look great, but it along with my toher sps are fadding at the bottom. Readings are as follows PH: 8.2, NO2=0, N03=0, CA=450, ALK=8. I have sps and lps mixed all lps are doing fine, havent had lots of success w/ sps. I've been trying to narrow the problem down for weeks. Today, i checked temp. amazingly it's right at 90 degress. Could this be causing me the headaches, and frustration. Recently, got new bulbs 20k XM's(400w). Please advise, and point me in directiion for success. Thanks.

90 degrees? That is definately a problem. I keep mine at 78 degrees. Get some fans blowing asap!

I've got dual rotating fans blowing, temp. is dropping. But, can this be the cause of my sps, looking faded and pal. I'm also investing digital thermometer. My house is always warm, dew to having small kids. Glad winter is over, I guess it graudually along w/ the MH's raised temp, to unsuitable levels. Hopefully i'll see improvement in the next couple of weeks(days). I guess, i've been slipping on my, documentation and awareness of system, temperture, swing. Hopefully, someone else can learn from my inquire, and catch it before it's to late. I feel better now that i can point the finger at something besides, my husbandary. Ahhhhh, now lets, play father nature. Thanks

Yea, i'm pretty lucky. Just finished installing 2 fans. Temp is dropping, Been a long day of system maintance but as always we'll worth it.

I freaked out at my wife for letting our home get too hot- 77 degrees which caused the tank to reach 84. Our AC was broken and it had two fans on the tank at the time( very difficult to find fans in january).

Sounds very similar to my situation. My wife is from out west and dosent like the cold, frigdeness of charlotte. But, the fans i installed last night are really doing a great job. Temperture this moring was 73degress. (lights off) worrried that fish my stress due to temp. change. But as of now, all are fine current temp. is ,76degress. Left fans running all night. Turned one off this moring, picking up timers, later today. I believe one will due the job.(Wal mart) has some cool fans, that are perfect for the job. Around, $6.00, per great value, and nice appearence.

sounds like you need a heater on your tank also. i had a hard time getting my tank stable for a long time since my GF likes to sleep with the window open in the winter and my heater seemed to be getting less and less accurate. that and my MH cooked my tank during the day. right now im trying to keep it at 78 with the help of a fan, heater and a new controller (a reefkeeper 2 i just got today!!!) good luck, its a constant battle.

Temperture is remaining stable from, 78 at night and 82 during the with lights on. I've been experimenting with the fans only running on to see, how much of a diference they make. I'm also battling nudibranches, pulled 2 of my milli last night. Looks like i'm in for a battle and operation, nusiance eagle is in ful affect(lol). I believe, the nudis are the main problem but; am aware of the temperture issue. Plan on examing all sps; nightly and feel pretty confident i can at least; keep these little monster i check.( Kept the ones i plucked off last night for futher experimentation.) The road to success is rough but , we'll worth the joruney. Thanks for your input. Good luck to you also.
