I'm always buying frags from both places and wonder if anyone wants to compare color and growth?
I'm running LED and like to see how some of the same frags would look under MH ,T5, PC,etc ?
Anyone interested?

What do you mean? We buy similar frags and then we compare over time?

If so Im down for that idea. Im on T5's

Im a $10 frag kind of guy. :)

Yea, exactly.
We can ask the stores to hold the frags for us from the same colony and lets see how each look under different lighting after time.
We can compare growth too but I'm more interested color.
I know its not scientific since other factors like feeding, water Q etc.

I'd be interested on getting in on this. I have Oceanrevive LEDs over my tank, it would be interesting to see growth from different stores and how different lights effect them

I might be interested in this as well. I haven't had time to buy frags or a long time, I could use an excuse to start again :)
I have a DIY LED with 3w white+blue Bridgelux on my tank.

Interesting Idea.
I have currently one Kessil A360WE over my 18 inch cube but will have two over my new 40W x 28D x 24H tank.

I'm kind of weekly at both stores and they usually have several of the same kind.

I've bought frags from both places and acclimatization and growth rate really depends on the type and species.

From Neptune I bought:
a red/orange montipora - it grows like crazy and they still have more of it
a green birdsnest that also grows very well (they have plenty of that one)
a green encrusting coral (forgot the name but can provide picture if requested) that also grows well and is also still available there
I preferred Neptune in the beginning because they use the same Kessil A360WE I use, but currently - despite huge temptations - I rather pass and wait if/until they get all the fresh fish out of the frag tanks.

California Reef is just two 880 exits (10 min) north from me and I've bought a lot of SPS, mostly acropora, from them. Plus Matt is a really cool guy and a pleasure to deal with. Also they do at least weekly dips with all their corals - something I don't think Neptune is doing.
One of the first corrals I bought from them was a brown staghorn with bluish tips. I has grown almost 2 inches and developed several side branches in two months.
The green staghorn I bought at the same time was growing only a bit on the base and now starts to die (looks as if it didn't like the Kessil)
A bluish birdsnest grows well.
Same goes for some loose Seritopora histrix branches I only got two weeks ago - just glued to some rock fragments and already developing new branches.
One tabling acropora piece I got loose is encrusting well and seems to be doing fine.
On most of the rest the jury is still out.
