SPS health with high Mag levels

Is there any downside to having elevated mag levels in a mostly sps tank? I have some pesky hair algae and have read some reports that high mag can slow down or kill off hair algae.

Any advice?

It's bryopsis that elevated magnesium will help fight, not your average run of the mill hair algae. Do some research to understand the difference. Elevated magnesium doesn't seem to hurt SPS in general.

...and even with Bryopsis, I was under the impression that you must elevate your Mg levels with Kent Tech-M. Either way, I agree with Peter; I don't believe high Mg levels will necessarily deter common green hair algae.
