Hi I need a little SPS help. First if you can Id the yellow one. So here is what is going on. The yellow one is starting to get some white spots and the brown one turned brown. I do not have a lot of sps but you can see some of the other seem to be ok.

They are in a 180 gallon tank
calcium 450
alk 8
ph 7.8
rest is 0

I have a mag return pump and two 3500 powerheads for flow
thank you

There could be a number of things causing this. First off what kind of lighting are you running? What position in the tank do you have these in? Are they close to other corals (could be chemical warfare)? Did the corals look healthy when you bought them (healed or fresh cut)? Your levels seem to be ok what is your Mg at? Have you had any swings in temp, salinity, or Mg since you added them? Have you recently added anything else since adding these corals? As you can see there are a lot of things that can cause this. Try and narrow it down. Good luck!

PH seems a lil low try getting up to around 8.3. SPS seems to turn brown when there is an excess of po4. Also look for pests such as red bugs or acro eating flat worms. Also possible that your lighting is too weak, or corals are in direct high flow. Just a few starting point ideas. Good luck :)

Weak lighting and check your water temp. Also aim your pumps toward each other to cause better currents especially in the center of your tank, Your sps's will love it.. (turbulent)

You haven't listed you Mg? Also if they seem healthy but bad color you may need to check your potassium and iodine they have a big effect on the coloration.

No algae growing on your power heads. LR that is bare. Water that is pristine clear. Looks to me like your tank is not yet "alive". Until you have "stuff" growing everywhere your LR and tank is not yet ready for SPS. Add some fish and some hardy LPS like a torch or hammer and wait 3 months. When you see sponges and other filter feeders growing in the crevices of your rock work then you'll know your tank has matured.

Joe ;)
