SPS ID Needed

Hey Gang,

I cannot identify this SPS I bought at my LFS. It didn't seem to be doing so well at the LFS, and I thought it wouldn't make it but I took a chance. I now have it under my radion and I can tell its turning pink, which is awesome! But what is it??

My guesses would be potentially a tenuis, red dragon, or speciosa? No clue.

Absolutely not a tenuis or carduus/speciosa... branching and coralites are simply too thick. I would guess maybe a granulosa or even lokani. Heck it could even be a tortuosa.... needs to heal up, develop polyps and show a growth pattern to even throw out a somewhat plausible ID.

That's a skeleton were looking at. All Acropora skeletons are that color.

Me too. Bigedman1589's Acropora in question is a dead skeleton. I do not see tissue on that coral. The pink color looks like a combination of the lighting and new algae settling in the skeleton.

Now with that said I have seen miracles where corals that are even more dead than that come back to life. But the one there in the OP's picture is pure skeleton that we are looking at. Which is the best reference when it comes to IDing Acropora and most stony corals.
