One of my Acros had a run in with a shroom and some of the polyps receeded. I have GSP and some xenia, can they overtake acros(cause polyps to receed)?
Thanks
M.

The shrooms most likely stung the acro and it might die. I'd frag above where the sting happened.

GSP ans xenia can also overtake acros because they grow so fast. They don't sting like a shroom would, rather they smother the acro by outgrowing it.

Any tips on the removal of the shrooms?
I have tried to get underneath the head and
make a cut but the minute the scissors hits the base the shroom retracts. I would rather not kill them with Joes juice but remove them and maybe put them in my sump. I have descent lightingg there for shrooms.
Thanks
M

For every shroom you cut you may get 10 back in return.

Best thing to due is spray them with kalk or Joe's Juice.
Never put them in your sump.
They can be very toxic to your tank.
Get rid of them completly.

If you can scrape the rock under the shroom to remove it, stem & all great. If you can't then cut the head off (and throw that in your sump) and THEN kalk what's left.

Wow... I didnt realize how bad shrooms can be.
I have a shroom covered rock.... Maybe I'll sell it to an LFS.
What about Zoanthids?

Zoos won't multiply when you cut them like shrooms. But they grow quickly and can outgrow an SPS frag/colony like GSP and xenia
