SPS Light Acclimation

Can someone explain how to acclimate SPS to a new tank with a different type light setup and a tank with the same type of light setup.

From what I've read you would have to start at the bottom and slowly raise them depending on what type of SPS. But if it is the same light setup you can place the frag any distance from the light. Is this right?

with the frags/colonies i get, i put them at the bottom then after a day or so, i put em whreever i want, and they soak up the light, but if they start to show signs of stress lower em.
