Mult SPS in my tank which are small colonies and frags have been going through a slow lighting of their colors with the best example beeing a green birds nest. All still have color it has just been slowly fading. Ca 480, mg 1280, alk 7-8. The alk has slowly come down over the last 2 months from 9-10 to get it closer to NSW as plan to start zeo in the next couple of months. Tank is on a contiuous water change of 2 gallons a day adding up to 20-22% water change a month. Temp stable between 76-79 degrees. My lighting is 7 AI sol blue which I slowly incresed to around 80% Royal blue, 80% blue and 50% white from 10AM to 6PM. From 12PM to 4PM the lights ramp up and then down so they are at 80%RB, 80%B, 80%W for 3 hours. I did this based on PAR readings and what PAR I thought the SPS was getting before they went into my tank. I feel the color change is most likely due to my light intensity being to high and have since (3 days ago) changed the settings to: 70% Royal blue, 70% blue and 35% white from 10AM to 6PM. From 12PM to 4PM the lights ramp up and then down so they are at 70%RB, 70%B, 60%W for 3 hours.
Would you all do anything differently with the lights. and how long would you expect it to takje for the colors to improve if too much light was the culprit. Just to be clear this is not a quick bleaching/STN/RTN event just a gradual loss of color intesity over weeks.
